I used to be able to capture from my Panasonic NVDS150 camcorder into Premiere. Last Sunday whilst capturing my holiday video Premiere froze and when I restarted my PC (running Windows ME) the footage had been "saved" as a temp file, but I was unable to capture any more as Premiere told me my camcorder was offline, and despite checking the settings I got the error "the DV device is unavailable for device control"
Despite reinstalling Premiere I still get the same result.
I have checked my camcorder on a friends PC with no problem.
Has something changed with my PC or firewire connection.
Thanks for any help
Tom

hi lucky,
i have had the ams eproblem a couple times with 6.5 too, all i have done is unplug my camera from the computer and then replug it back in but with it turned off. once plugged in and having premiere started i turn the camera back on and it has recognised the camera again
hope this helps

Yes thanks Georgyboy I have tried that , I even tried swapping to my other firewire port

Hooray I( seem to have solved my problem. The old solution for anything look at the basic or easy things first - I changed my firewire cable and it worked. Bit disapointed as I only bought it a couple of years ago, would have expected more use than that for £20, still the new one is much cheaper £7.99 from B&Q ( that well known Video accessary store!}
