Through Access, is there a way to pull information through the COM port? I have a scale that can send the weight through a COM Port and I would like to capture the weight and set it to a form field.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

I think you would have to load an activeX control that can communicate with scale. Then find out what characters you send to the com port to get the weight from the scale.

How do I use the active X open the COM Port to pull the data and close it.

Thanks,
Mike

There are ActiveX controls out there to insert into a form that will retrieve for you the info from the Scale. I do not have anything off hand.

I will send someone an email to find out for you where you can download these active X's from.

zevw, could you post the related ActiveX downloadsite in this thread ?
Can it be used to capture data from the LPT port too ?
B. Rgds !!

This is what I got.

It used to be Microsoft ActiveX Com Control 5.0.

But it was for sure upgraded so check out microsoft's site.
