I'm trying to capture video from my camera to Premiere Pro 2.0, but for 45 minutes of footage the file is 10 GB. I can't find anywhere to set capture compression settings, so can someone help me out?

Premiere captures in DV CODEC via FireWire.

DV is compressed at a standard 5:1 and occupies approximately 13Gb of disk space per hour.

Higher compression is only available by transcoding into an alternative CODEC after capture as DV, but the alternatives are mostly not suitable for editing and most are incompatible with the timeline in PPro2.

So what you describe is the way it works. Video takes lots of disk space!
