Hi,

Does anyone out there have any formulas or can point me in the direction of a good document. For citrix capacity planning , that shows how much memory needed for x number of users.

When using MS standard office apps.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Hi Paul, there is really only one way to do this. Using resource Manager and a pilot system, that will give you a true picture of what it will use, you can then use the figures from RM (whilst active flags) you need to work out a weighted average for the apps, but it works.

Should you not want to go with that, then go with 15-20 users per processor, and as much RAM as you can throw at it.

You then want to think about load balancing over several servers for a bit of redundancy and you should be right.

I agree with the 15-20 users per processor. I was told once years ago at my MF XPe class no more then 25 users per processor and no more then 100 per box, no matter how many processers it has. And definitely put in as much RAM as you can afford. I used to go with 256mb per user but now I max the box out. For example we have 25 users and its a dual p4 (quad processor) with 4gb and it runs great for general email, network use and proprietary software usage.

Thanks all.

What you have said pretty much backs up what I have been saying all along!

Cheers.
