Can't view DVD RW in dvd player

Hi there!
I have burned a slide show onto a DVD and I can view it on my computer's DVD drive, but not on a normal dvd player hooked up to the TV.. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Absolutely. The obvious explanation is that you're using a DVD RW (Rewritable) which are generally less compatible on set-top DVD players.

First, I suggest you visit this site to see if you can find your DVD player listed. If you do, then it should have some comments from other users that should let you know what brand of media works in your player.

Then, make sure you re-burn the DVD using DVD R (Write-once) media, hopefully using a brand that is known to work on your player.

I will try that! Thanks.. I also tried to burn using DVD-R media but my computer won't do it.... Will DVD-RW drives burn to DVD-R's?

Yes, but make sure it's not a DVD[red]+[/red]R/RW drive which requires "+" media. Also, sometimes the brand of media makes a difference. Try a different brand like Fujifilm or TDK.

i've had excellent results using "Verbatim" brand dvd-R discs.

like "cdogg" said, you should check your burner to see what type discs it burns to. that's either the + or - type discs. YES, it should certainly burn to a type R disc, just use the type it was designed to use,


if you used the DVD+RW then it will burn to the DVD+R disc,
if you used the DVD-RW then it will burn to the DVD-R disc.
