Recently, our phone system was reprogrammed, and one feature was lost: being able to use the Voice Call feature without lifting the handset first.

The receiving end of the call is working fine. It is the act of placing the Voice Call that has changed. We used to be able to press "Voice Call" + the extension, then talk to the person on the other end. Now, the handset has to be lifted first, otherwise it is as if the microphone is muted.

The system is a 8x24-DS (DR3 software version).

If you can not us the Hand free on a Intercom call or and outside line the hand free or automatic hand free is off

I have tried changing the Full Handsfree (and Auto Handsfree) settings. It ends up making the Voice Call button appear to function like the Intercom button -- The called extension rings instead of just beeping once and then automatically connecting. Not the result I was looking for.

Make sure your voicecall buton is still programed as voice call and not a intercom button. Do a feature 0 button inquiry. try feature 66 manually and then the extension number to see if that works

Thank you both telephonetim and curylcord. When I turn on handsfree, it does bump the buttons up but I'm still able to use Voice Call via Feature 66. I'm not able to reprogram the Voice Call button for some reason, but I can program a different button and move the labels around. That will work!
