can't use any tools, except hand and zoom in Illustrator

I just installed Illustrator CS and I was sent a business card file to update with new text. When I opened the file, I chose to update the legacy text. Now my cursor looks like a pencil with a line through it, no matter what tool I click on, except for the hand and zoom. Is there a reason I am unable to edit this file?

First, see if you can do Object > Unlock All.

If that's grayed out, open the Layers palette (Window > Layers) and click on any locks beside layers.

Thank you! I had been looking and looking at those files and couldn't figure it out. It HAS been awhile since I've used Illustrator. Thanks again!
