Can't upload files in to Companyweb

Hi all

Have a client using SBS2003, with 2 users making extensive use of the Sharepoint Companyweb facility

Friday last week they lost the ability to upload or amend any files

Word, for example, reports that the drive may be full.

Which it isn't, there'd be a world of other problems if it were.

All updates are on, they have IE6, 7 and 8 all with same symptoms.

Administrator works - but nothing has changed on the system ( I know we've all heard this before, but only I have the administrator password )

Any pointer gratefully received

checked all the usual stuff, user permissions, quotas, same user from a different pc etc etc

still no joy

Disk quotas was my first thought as well. You sure you checked quotas for groups too?

absolutley everything checks out

I always turn off quotas at installation time.

I can't find anything about this online, surely these can't be the only ones to have ever experienced this.

Here's more info:

SBS2k3
over 60% free hdd space
amending any document in companyweb/general documents, looks like it has saved, even updates the time and date on the file. When yuo open it, no amendments are there.

As administrator, all works fine.
put user in Companyweb admin group - no change
put user in administrators group for domain - no change

New document says that file cannot be saved, check permissions, quotas ,disk space etc etc

I'm going bald(er)

OK, so if it works as Administrator but not a user you know then that the problem is permissions based.

Have you tried reapplying security to the site?

just tried again

using wordpad, excel and word

doesn't work for any user - even administrator

Wow, OK. Let's try something else. Can you setup WebDAV and then establish a mapped drive to the SharePoint content? See if it then lets you save changes.

sorry for delay, been a mad busy week )

from the server, set up mapped drive to sharepoint folder, created using the 'faulty user's creds' - and you can create, amend etc etc etc

however

if I do the same from her own PC - the mapping works, but still can't amend or create. although if you try to amend, the modify date and time updates.

if it helps:
windows xp sp3
office 2000 sp3

OK, so you have now established it is not a problem with the user ID but rather a problem with the computer.

There was a thread opened up in the MS Newsgroups about this and I am having problems locating it. The solution was a permissions issue on the local PC that was configured in the local Group Policy. I'll keep hunting but you may want to try asking this question in

microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs.

I've logged on to another PC as this user and get the same failure

I'll do some more newsgroup scanning over the weekend.

FYI - this PC was installed about 6 weeks ago, onto the domain and was working fine until the day before I opened this question

The fact that it works differently from the server supports the theory that it is being pushed down from a policy.

further investigations provide more confusion

I followed a microsoft KB to completely remove all aspects of Sharepoint, the App pool, databases and everything

Then re-installed it all from scratch - new databases etc

having the same issues from all pcs

can't even open companyweb from the server

any ideas

What happens when you try to open it from a workstation? Do you get any error messages. In IE Internet Options turn off friendly HTTP error messages.

I have already stated, however, that it is affecting all users from all pcs

companyweb opens ok, can browse round, can't upload any files - word reports 'drive may be full'

Hmm, might be time to contact MS then since you say that disk quotas are turned off. I'm afraid I am out of ideas. Sorry.
