Can't Update data in linked Excel Sheet from Access

I have been linking sheets and populating them with Access data and for some unknown reason, I am unable to edit data the linked spreadsheets. The sheets are not locked and I've checked the file's attribute to make sure they are not read only.

Baffled.

I just learned that microsoft disable this feature via their updates. I am trying to locate the article about this before passing it on. I love this feature so am very frustrated about this.
