hi guys, i installed win xp pro before and then i removed it. that was 2 months ago, last week i wanted to install xp again cos my sis wanted it so i did, but then, i tried uninstalling it from add/remove programs, and it said that the data's been changed or the backup has been modified and now my pc is dual boot with win xp and win me.
i didnt change any of the data anyway so why couldnt i unistall it?

Try turning off your system restore by going to Properties under My Computer then reboot and try again. If not you could use a program boot disc like Partition Magic and delete it from there.

You could also boot to a normal DOS disk and remove the partitions there.

thanks to you 2 man, you 2 rock. i'll try them out and i have got partition magic so i can just simply delete the partition, thanks a lot any info is ALWAYS appreciated

ive got 1 problem guys, how do i delete it, ive only got 1 partition and thats my whole drive!!! i cant delete that any info is ALWAYS appreciated

Did you install XP and ME on the same partition?

yep, i did and now my hard drive or "the only 1 partition" is dual boot. anyway, it doesnt matter now cos im gonna get a new hard drive and put the dual boot hdd to slave and new one to master. thanks for all the replies anyway. any info is ALWAYS appreciated

Here's a tip for the future - NEVER install multiple operating systems on the same partition, thats a big no no.

Which OS do you plan on installing on the second hard drive? What OS is installed right now? 98/ME has to be installed before XP/2000 are, or you won't be able to dual (or multi) boot.

I would definetly recommended starting over and re-partitioning and formatting the first hard drive. If you want to back up some data from the hard drive first, then install your second hard drive in as a slave to the first and copy the data that you want to backup to the second hard drive. Then partition and format the first. Install the OS on the first and then move the data back from the second.
