Hi,

I recently installed a graphics card into a machine and everything was fine until I started up and I got this horrible siren alarm wailing from the PC speaker. I have tried taking the g/card out and put the old one back in but it still won't stop. In the end I have temporarily disconnected the PC speaker to save the headaches! Any one got any ideas as to whats happened?

TIA for any help,

Amb3rsil

Check your fans. Some Mobo's have alarms if the temp goes above a preset limit, or if your CPU/System fans stop or go too slow. If this is the case your BIOS should tell you what the limits are and what the current settings are. I suggest you do this ASAP and re-connect your speaker as it's warning you that something is very wrong. Patrick

If the card is AGP make sure that it is fully seated in the slot. The card fits really deep in the slot.
