Hi,

We are using Arcserve9 for both Netware and Microsoft. I am able to use the 'STOP' button in Arcserve manager for Microsoft backup to stop jobs, but for Netware the manager shows no 'STOP' button whatsoever. I have to use the server console to stop jobs and find this has it's own problems.

Sometimes I can't stop jobs at all for Netware and have to down the server.

Has anyone come across this? If so and you have a solution please let me know.

cheers
Mike

With BAB 9 for NetWare to stop an active job from the Manager go to the Job Status window and right click on the job and select Stop Job, or from the Scheduler Console screen on the server enter View Job Queue, Statistics, highlight the active job and press the delete key.

Now a job may seem to hang if it is using an agent and it is waiting for a response from the agent.

We are having the same problem.

I ran a backup 2 days ago, and stopped the backup mid-process. The status is 27% and "Stopping". When I tried to stop this again, the system notifies me "this job has been stopped, please wait until process is safely terminated". Then when I try to delete the backup I get an error "This job is active. It cannot be deleted".

Any Suggestions?

If that hung job was using an agent, then it is probably the agent that is hung and the job is just waiting on the agent. If it is a NetWare client agent then the failure point is usually the TSA NLM, stop that and the job will cancel.

Hi DavidMichel,

Thanks for replying to my post. Unfortunately, I am unable to stop the job using the method you describe, as 'STOP JOB' suffers from the same problem as I described in my original post - it doesn't show up! Meaning a can't select it. Incidently, not only can I not stop the jobs using the manager, I also can not view the properties of a job when right clicking a job and selecting 'Properties', so I am unable to find out any progress of session completion etc using the manager.

The situation for me now is that I have to use the server console to stop and view jobs consistently.

any further ideas would be appreciated.

The disconnection between the server and manager might be a sight of an install problem. Perhaps an update did not take place correctly. Or are you using remote management for the manager?
