Can't start IMS - error 4087 1

Hi there

My Exchange server game up the ghost this morning and I'm still trying to get it back up and running.

Every time I try to get the Internet Mail Service running, I get an error 2140 - NT internal error has occurred.

On going to the Event Viewer, this gives me an event ID of 4087 but when I look this up, I get lots of the same links to non-existent Microsoft articles!

Can someone help? I'm completely out of ideas and about to give in my resignation before getting shouted at any more ...

The link below talks a little bit about the 4087 error but seems a bit dated (talking about 4.0 and Services for Macintosh). But it points to network (specifically protocol) problems and says to remove and reinstall them all. Thats not so hard so you might want to give reinstalling TCP a try if you don't find anything else.

Are all of the other Exchange services starting OK?

Thanks rdroske for that link - it was very helpful. Finally got the mail service started again about 6pm last night. Unfortunately all mails in and out had disappeared from 11am but it was certainly better than not getting it started at all!

Someone shoot my MD for dumping a load of old Apple Macs onto my network without any planning whatsoever ... Grrr...
