hi,
i was working on a form and made a couple of changes, and my last change access didn't like. the form is open in acdialog mode, and i can't close it by clicking on the 'x'. i get an error message that says
"The macro or function set to the BeforeUpdate or ValidationRule property for this field is preventing Access from saving the data in this field." But I keep clicking ok and i can't get out!

Is there another way to break out of Access?

Thanks-

Try the Esc key before closing the form.

Hope This Helps, PH.

i connected to our server as a different user and went through task manager to close access....luckily it wasn't corrupt!

Also, you may want to try <Alt>+<F4>
That just kills the current application.

Of course, what Access is telling you is that you've left a required field blank or entered inappropriate dtat in a field. If you can figure out the offending field and correct it you should have no problem. <Ctrl> + <Alt> + <Del> will, of course, also get you out (and if memory serves, you'll get a "Do you want to save changes" before exiting the program. HAving said this, it's been my experience in this situation that if you click out of the warning box and repeat clicking the close button 2 or 3 times, Access will eventually allow you to close the form.
