can't shut down/log off/ restart on a user account

I'm using win2k pro on my pc.
I set up two user accounts, which are an admin and a power user.
On starting the machine, I log onto the power user account automatically.

Oneday, I logged off the power user and logged onto admin.
After I did some work on the admin, I was trying to shut the machine down but failed.
Then, I tried to lof off and restart but failed.
The machine just logged back on.
I've not been able to figure out the reason.
If someone give me a piece of advice, I would really appreciate it.

Maybe you had better give up auto-boot
