Can't seem to delete an unwanted file?

Hello,
Wish someone can help me, I recieved a email with attachment for christmas of "SopranoRudolph".It played in media player. But when looking into the file has no date/no file description, just blank. Everytime I go to delete this file, an error appears saying it is being used by another program. In find/files I searched found the file 2 times and 2 url files also. Highlighted to delete, still says the same thing. I have tried renaming, but wont let me do so.
I don't want this silly thing on my omputer taking up space for no reason, please someone give me some idea's.

BTW Using XP HOME with all latest updates.

Try deleting them from the command prompt or boot into safe mode and try from there Help us to help you, please post back and tell us if this helped.

I will try them out, but Mulga I did everything you stated, with no success,boohoo.
I looked at the thread firewolfrl and I will try that also, I bookmarked dougknox.com for further information.

Hi guys,

Well to my surprise I was just about to print up everyones answers and help from the threads you have given me, when I decides to clear out other unwanted files in my documents, when I highlights that same file again but this time, it showed up all its information Avi file 1.66mb date so forth.
So I decided to try delete again, woohoo it vanished.
But I am greatful for all you quick replies, and helpful knowledge. Probably see you soon, never know.lol
But this site sure does help. I recommend to everyone.
