I am having a weird problem. We have a network with about 40 Win 2000 machines, 5 Win XP machines, and 5 Win 98 machines. There is a Win 2000 Server domain controller which handles DHCP and DNS. About 2 weeks ago, I stopped being able to see any other machines from the Network Neighborhood window on my PC (I'm using win 2000). I can still ping all of the Win2000 and WinXP boxes by IP address and by host name. I can also view their contents in Windows Explorer by typing \\hostname in the address bar. Once I type \\hostname in the address bar, that machine appears in the folder view of explorer, but if I close explorer and go back in, it is gone. Network neighborhood shows only our network name with no contents when it is first opened.
Also, I can ping the Win98 machines by IP address, but not by host name (used to be able to do both). AND... I cannot connect to the Win98 machines through Windows explorer with EITHER \\hostname or \\IPAddress.
I am only experiencing this problem on MY machine. All other PCs on the network are fine, so it is a local problem. Any ideas?
