Can't See Files

I have 4 Webservers running W2K and IIS 5.0. On all 4, when I map to them, I can see and manipulate files/folders. When I go to My Network Places, I can see all 4 servers but when I try to open them, files/folders only show up on 2 of them. All the servers are supposed to be set up the same. This is happening from both W2K and XP Pro workstations.

All the servers are supposed to be set up the same.

Yes, but are they? Sounds like two of them are mot set to share.

Check that File and Printer Sharing is installed on all. It sounds as if two only have Client for Microsoft Networking.

Thanks for replying.

I checked my sharing and it seems OK. The File and Print Sharing service was there. I uninstalled and re-installed it. Still no help.

Another thought - I ran across an article that FTP'ing to a webserver that has the FP Server Ext installed can cause problems. The article seemed to focus on trying to publish your website with FTP. I don't publish using FTP, but on the 2 servers I can no longer see the files on, I do have a couple of programmers that download data files using FTP from a mainframe to a location on the webserver. They have been doing this for about 3 months and this problem I have just showed up about 2 weeks ago. Anybody have any experience with this?

I do not think this is an FTP consequence.

It sounds like a basic NTFS permissions issue. Does the group Everyone have full rights to the Folders on the problematic servers?

Not only does f&p sharing need to be on but the files or folders need to be shared on the computer. Make sure you have at least something shared.
