can't see exchange agent in backup wizard tree

Hi there,

i have arcserve 2000 (sp4) running on nt4 (sp6a) which also has exchange 5.5 (sp4) on. I have done everything correctly (i think) in regards to setting up the exchange agent because when i ran the exchange configuration and entered all my details i was immediately congratulated on a successful set up, but now when i run the backup wizard from arcserve i cannot see the exchange agent in the tree.
any ideas fully appreciated

HI,

you should not use the "Backup Wizard"...

Please open the ARCserve Manager and go to the Backup Window...

i think i may have bigger problems, when i click on manager and then backup arcserve completely closes down!!!

Are you terminaling into the ARcserve server???

guess you might hafta reinstall the product and reapply SP4

yeah im doing it remotely using pc anywhere

is there a way you can check if it works on the ARCserve server...???

the server has just recently had groupshield 4.5 installed, could that have anything to do with it ?

We cannot eliminate any possibilities...

I would start with trying at the server console instead of terminalling...

Hi Miguel73,

I had Arcserve shutting down when trying to connect to my exchangesrvr too once. I solved the problem by making the service "Backup Agent RPC server" login using the admin account instead of using the System Account. Then reinstalled the Exchange Agent using SP2 and created a new backup job.
I am using Arcserve 6.61 on NT4(sp6a) and Exchange 5.5(sp4).
