When I press the "Scan To" button on the printer's CP, it returns a message "Not Setup on PC". However, scanning from my PC using the software works.

The following is a list of things I've tried doing to troubleshoot:

-ping the printer from my PC (printer connected over the network)
-run HP FixScan.exe
-set up destination for scans on my PC using the HP Scan software
-uninstall software, run scrubber.exe, disable firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, re-install software
-uninstalled previous scanning software from my old Dell MFP and repeated the last step

I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?

Have you checked and configured the Scan-To properly from the HP toolbox ? This is mandatory for the Scan-to function to work.

Thanks for the reply.

In the HP ToolboxFX, I see settings for the following:

Status, Alerts, Fax, Help, System Settings, Print Settings, Network Settings.

I have tried configuring the Scan To function from the HP Scan software by selecting the option that says "Change the destinations that show up on the all-in-one control panel when I press the <Scan To> button". When I get to the next window, where it should list both the "Available Destinations on this PC" as well as "The destinations currently on the all-in-one", my lists are blank.

I am almost certain that there is a communication problem between the computer and printer over the LAN. During installation, I disabled Windows Firewall, Symantec personal firewall, and even my anti-virus and anti-spyware.

Do you have any suggestions as to what may be preventing the printer from being able to access my PC?

Some more suggestions :

1) Verify you have the latest firmware installed on the printer ... It should read 20061014 Rev F 14 Oct 2006 on the configuration page printed from the Reports menu on the printer.
2) Verify PML Driver HPZ12 is started in services on the PC. Run the fix scan utility reboot pc if it's not present and power cycle the printer & PC.
3) Please confirm that you have checked/done the following described in this document : It explains the setup proces for the Scan-To folders.
4) For further help and info please obtain a copy of the software technical reference available here : The software technical reference explains in details how the software is setup with images and according to what OS is being used.

Good luck [wink]

I managed to solve the problem, finally. Apparently my Windows Firewall was not disabled completely. Under the "Advanced" tab, in the "Network Connection Settings", I unchecked the box for "Local Area Connection". Pressing the Scan To button now brings up a scan profile/destination on the printer's CP.

Thanks for working through this with me. I hope other users will benefit from all of the troubleshooting pointers you have provided.

Hi, sorry to drag up an old thread but you might be able to help.

I'm looking to buy one of these printers but i need more info on the scanning side. I'm after a network scanner. The printer will be connected with an ethernet cable at the other side of the office, what i want is for people to go to it, scan a document to a email address or folder and no intervention is required at the PC side to do this. Is this possible with this printer? How are you finding it a few months down the line now.

Cheers

Paul
