I recently saved some data to 'A' drive which worked fine but I went to resave a it gave me a message that the floppy needs formatted, I try to format but to no avail. This happened to several floppys I have tried. I am using w/2000 NT. please advise

Try formatting from the command prompt and use the /X option. ==> FORMAT a: /X

Ed Please let me know if the suggestion(s) I provide are helpful to you.

is this problem with all your floppy ,, or just some of them !? Mohamed Farid

This happened to all the floppy's I tried, I pulled them randomly from a box of used ones, I also tried 1 new unused preformatted floppy (same result).Would this have something to do with the Fat sector? Should I buy unformatted floppy's?

Try a floppy that works in another computer in yours. If it reads okay, try formatting a disk in your computer, then take it to another computer to see if it reads your formatted disk.

If you have another drive, just pop it in and give it a shot. That will probably be the fastest answer.
