I have Crystal Reports 10 Developer at SP3 on my desktop and we have an server with Crystal Enterprise Server Version 10 with SP2 on it. Server is running Window 2003 and I am running XP.

I am now having problems trying to SAVE some reports to the Enterprise Server. I get the following error message: Failed to read data from the report file C:\thepath and file name.rpt Reason: Operation not yet implemented. File c:\temp\tempreport\blahblah.rpt

This problem only seems to occur on PCs with Windows XP but not Windows 2000.

Some older posts indicate a similar problem when export but I'm simply trying to save it. Also report runs just fine on my local pc. Any ideas?

You might try setting CR to run under Windows compatibility mode for Windows 2000.

Right click the .exe and select properties->Compatibility and select the Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 2000.

Otherwise I'm not aware of this specific issue.

Applying the latest service packs may prove useful too:

Ok - Same error occurs when running under Windows compatibility mode for Windows 2000. My workstation is running lates SP and I am in process of downloadin SP3 for Enterprise.

Question: Since SP for Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise do not necessarily come out at the same time, do you see a problem if they are not both at the latest patch level?

Hi,
Are you getting any errors when logging in to the CMS prior to saving?

No - no error until such time I attempt to do a "Save As".

I have isolated this problem a bit more. It only occurs from Windows XP workstations when a printer is defined as part of the report. If I check the NO PRINTER box the problem goes away.

We recently eliminated all of our HP printers and now have new Ricoh devices. Not sure if that was part of the problem or not.
