Can't resolve DNS on Windows 2k3 server in side my Windows 2Kdomain

I am in the the process of deploying a 2003 box in our 2000 domain, when I was I my workstation I decided to \\<server name> to this no 2003 server, and Nothing can not be found. I know the problem has to do with DNS because I can get to it with IP-Address <static ip on server>. An the I disjoined and rejoined the domain and the computer account was created in AD. However it has no place in our domain. I did alsoenable the computer for delegation in the ad account for it ...did not work.

check the DNS records. also, if only one or some computers have this issue, you may want to use ipconfig /flushdns command on the client.

I tried \\<servername> from multi workstations all to the same server and dns will not resolve only IP.

Check your NetBIOS over TCP/IP settings...

check reverse DNS also.

Alright Darknesses I have solved the problem. Server2k3 has :enable Netbios over TCP in the Network Connection/TCP Properties/advance/WINS tab. I enabled "Netbios over TCP/IP" and then I "ipconfig /registerdns" it seemed to do the trick.

Slite learning curve with Server 2003.
