Cant Register SQL 6.5 in Enterprise Manager

I just reacently installed SQL 6.5 because of a sotware that was developed in that platform, and I can't register the machine on the enterprise manager

I know all the SQL services are running but enterprise manager does't see the Server.. any ideas??

Which version of Enterprise Manager are you running? If you are running EM for SQL 7 or higher, you'll not be able to register the SQL 6.5 server. Terry L. Broadbent - Salt Lake City, UT

I'm on 6.5 unfortunately for me this is the first time i've isntalled 6.5 i dont have a problem installing or configuring 7.0 =(

any ideas??

yes, I installed SQL 6.5, and for some reason Enterprise Manager 6.5 is not letting me register the server, and i checked that the services are running..

it says that the SQL Server is unabailable or does not exist

Try using the Client Network Utility to setup aliases for the Server on the client. Make sure the client and server are both using the same Network library - i.e, TCP/IP. Terry L. Broadbent - Salt Lake City, UT

The client tools should be able to connect using named pipes, if I remember SQL 6.5 propeerly. Both client and server must use the same network library and listen on port. I still recommend using the Client Network Utility. Terry L. Broadbent - Salt Lake City, UT
