Hi again!

I have a few users who have 4-5GB mailfiles and I need to reduce their size because I am running out of disk space on the server. I had them remove all of their sent items which made up the bulk of it, but the mailfile sizes still remain the same. I ran compact on them but even after this, they have not come down in size. Anyone know if I am missing something?

If documents disappear, the view indexes should go down as well as the file size. If that is not happening, you may want to specify a compact that rebuilds the views.
If that is not enough, a consistency check might be in order. And if that still does not bring down the file size, I would suggest replicating the mail file locally, deleting it on the server, and replicating it back. Given that creating a replica does not copy the view indexes, this operation - though tedious - is a sure-fire way to get it to work.
Either that, or you'll get an error message that will enable you to address the root of the issue.

Pascal.

Hiya - have you tried compacting with the -B option. You may have to tell adminp to process all afterwards.

cheers, T

make sure to empty the trash folder if this is a version 6 mail file.
