I have a Win2003 DNS server with forwarders set to our two ISP DNS server. I can browse to most web sites just fine, but we have an interesting issue trying to access Yahoo and Google in particular. I also have issues getting to Wired at times. All PCs are DHCP and have the same issue. If I set a static address and use the ISPs DNS addresses, all is extremely fast and can access all sites. Once I go back to DHCP, I cannot get to those sites mentioned. Sometimes those sites are accessible for a minute, but then go away. If I am patient enough, I can finally get to Yahoo Mail, but most of the time the page is odd looking with big default fonts. There are only 20 or so people in the office MAX, right now there are 5.
I am not experienced enough at DNS to troubleshoot, can anyone give me an idea where to start? Thanks!

Your server should point to the isp's dns servers, and itself. All clients should point only at your dns server. Is this how you have it setup? Good luck.

I just added the ISP DNS servers to our internal server... it had only been pointing to itself! At least immediately, Yahoo and Google are popping up VERY fast. If I experience any other difficulty, I'll be sure to post.

Darn, I typed too soon. About 30 minutes after writing the above note, the same issue was happening. Any other tips?? This is becoming a very annoying issue for everyone, including the boss! My last resort would be to reinstall the DNS server but I'm willing to do it if that's what it takes.

THANK YOU!!!

Nothing... The last errors reported were on 10/19/04 and say "DNS server encountered an invalid domain name in a packet from 216.73.81.10." Event ID 5504.

If there is somewhere else I can check, I'll be glad to do it. It's just so strange, I appreciate everyone hanging in there.
