Can't put calls on hold 2

I have a 500v2 on 8.0.46 in Basic Mode. For whatever reason, sometimes you cannot put the caller on hold :O !!. The system was originally on 8.0.16/18 and I upgraded it to 8.0.46, a few weeks later they are still randomly having the issue. I THINK that they might not be hitting the Phone/Exit key after being in some kind of phone menu (I've had so many people say they intermittently cannot dial out and it's because they didn't hit the phone/exit button), but has anyone else heard of such a crazy thing?

Basic Mode, also known as Muppet mode was a crazy idea to start with.

Unfortunately I cant Tell you if this is "Normal" or not as we refuse to use it.
Muppet mode is like buying a hi def TV & then only watching (worn out)VHS video tapes

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

We have customers who wanted to keep their Partner system but could not pay the maintenance on it anymore, Muppet Mode is a perfect solution for someone like that. While most customers can be put into call appearances/park buttons if you just steer them correctly, Muppet Mode gives them exactly what they had before, trying to emulate the IPO with line appearances is flaky, there is no automatic line selection (unless of course I want to put the lines in a certain order in button programming, but that is tacky).

Partner mode & Muppet mode are closely related but different
Partner mode was introduced to provide a comfort zone/upgrade path to US customers replacing an obsolete product

Muppet mode was introduced to provide a similar sawn of functionality to the European marked that did not need or want it.
Although it does enable almost any Tom, Dick or Harry to install the product without causing too many problems.

I doubt that any competent installer would have chosen to use Muppet mode on V7.0 when essential edition did not require a licence.

this is the best analogy I have heard so far and I have to agree.
I have not installed a Muppet system and will not ever do that as I rather send a customer to the competition and have them make their live a living hell when it doesn't work than ruining my reputation and increasing my grey hair.

I have to agree with what you are saying Guru. R7's essential no question, but for some of these 3 phone gas stations that $500 license now becomes a larger portion of the total price.

wireless for the analog line with 3 handsets for $79 would do them just fine I guess.
I have not installed a system into a gas station yet because when they hear it is more than $100 they go with the wireless phones from Costco or WalMart

In a 3 user set up Given the choice of V8.1 in Muppet mode or V7.0 in standard mode with no support from Avaya Id go with the V7.0 (Hell Id even be quite happy to install with V5.0 in that set up!)
