Running WIN2K PRO workstation on Netware network. We have several network printers on Novell print queues and this workstation has a local printer on lpt1, which is set as the default Windows printer. In Word, we select Print and select the local printer and print. The printing goes to a network printer instead (this network printer is set up on the workstation also, but with a different port, plus it is not the printer we selected anyway). Even printing from a DOS prompt to lpt1: goes to the network printer.

Thank You

have you tried deleting the lpt1 connection?
"net use lpt1 /d" at the dos prompt. then set the local printer as default. try printing again.

I assume when logged into a NetWare network when printing it sends the print job to a print queue. The local printer does not have a print queue so it sends it to the novell print queue which has no reference to the local printer.
If you log off the Novell network, does it then allow printing locally?

In the printers folder, under the properties for the networked printers, do you have LPT1: checked under the Ports tab?

Had the same problem, although it was on a specific program that we use. We went to the user's log in script and removed any capture statements from it. Then, if the user needed to still print in DOS, we went to the PC in question and locally captured the printer. Don't know if this will help.
