Can't print on a Novell printer queue. New problem (appl. 10 years)

Since some users have change PC's we have a Printing problem. The program was printing very well a few months ago. It is printing to Novell printer queue on Novell 4.11 server. The users are having Novell client 3.30.0.0, using windows 9X on their PC.

The error message is:

Error BASE/2016 Write error: LPT1(DOS Error 5)

Please help me out.

does your client still have some older PC on the same network capable of running your Clipper app? If so, do they print OK?
From a DOS prompt at a newer PC try copying any ASCII file
(Autoexec.bat) to LPT1. If that doesnt work either, problem is in the capturing of the printer port.

Hi,

I'll bet the new PC's are running W98 or NT. I had a similar problem a while back. I assume BTW that you are using NovLib to access the print queues.

What I did to resolve the problem was issue an ENDCAP or CapEnd(1) within the printer setup function BEFORE setting up the 'new' queue.
