Have a Merlin Magix 2 system. It is setup with 5 locations. 4 of the locations are working fine, but the 5th location the secretary is the only person who can receive calls from anywhere besides their location and no one can place calls outside the 5th location. When the secretary tries to xfer calls it ususally is dead air. Sometimes it will go through. When you try to place a call you hear dead air (you hear a click in the dead air). When you receive a call, it rings, the display gives the number, but when you pick it up it is dead air. The caller can not hear anything either.
Any help would be appreciated.

A bit more info would probably be needed.

Sounds like you have NETWORKED SYSTEMS.

A PRINT of Various Programming would be helpful.

If you can dial in, a PRINT ALL would be the Best thing to have, but that takes FOREVER.

I would usually do a PRINT ALL of the SICK system remotely when I could just let the SPM Equipped Computer just do nothing else for several hours.

Yes, it is a networked system. I have done a download of two of the locations and am going to compare them. I am just not sure what I am looking for. I did check the error log at the site and under Transient Errors I got the following errors:

Pool Busy &/or 005

Slot00 Port02 Count 0
First 12/7/04 9:36
Last 12/7/04 13:49
Code 4C03

Got the same thing on Port05 First 10:38 Last 11:41

Also got this error:

DS1 MISFRAME ALARM

Slot07 Port00 Count0
First 12/7/04 13:30
Last 12/7/04 13:30
Code 6C09

Also under Last 99 System Errors:

PRI D-DHNL INOPERATIVE

Slot07 Port00

Last 12/7/04 13:48
Code 7003

Also

DS1 BLUE ALARM

Slot07 Port00
Last 12/7/04 13:48
Code 6C02

I don't know if this would help or not. I tried to go to Avaya's webpage but could not load it. I am not sure if they are having problems or me, but I could load everything else. If there is anyone who could give me any advice what I might look for, I would appreciate it. I am starting to think it might be a hardware problem.

After doing a print all, I checked it and noticed the Extension Status (ESS): is setup as Group Call Supv. It was Hotel before. I am guessing this is the problem.

Sorry about the last post. It was setup as Hotel before and that was the problem. So I had to switch it to Group Call. I don't see anything in the print all I did that would cause the problem.

Well, are you still seeing "PRI D-DHNL INOPERATIVE"?

IF so, you gotta' fix that first.

Dude, that means it's a NO WORKEE BOYS!!!!

I believe the error is cleared. It is only showing up in the Last 99 System errors. I can't get them to delete out. I think it is listed 4 times with all the errors being yesterdays date and time. There are no Permanent or Transient errors.

Merlinman, when you said "Dude, that means it's a NO WORKEE BOYS!!!!" were you referring to Avaya's web page or DS1 blue alarm?

Thanks again for all the help

Well, when you see "D channel inoperative" that means the two systems (legend & central office) are not talking to each other.

IF at this time you say it is WORKING, and no errors, that probably means you had some intermittant failure on the "PIPE".

The error is cleared, but it is still not working. The D channel is still not working. Is there a place in the Winspm software I can release the D channel (or reset it, etc)? Also I was informed I could swap out a 100DC1 for a 100 DCD as long as I had an adtran connected to the 100DC1. Does anyone know if this is true? I tried it but it didn't help in the trouble-shooting.

Just wanted to finish this thread hoping it will help people in the future. There are 3 cabinets in the main location. There was an empty slot in the 1st cabinet (due to power problems when the system was installed). It turned out there was a software jumper put in, because there shouldn't be any empty slots in your cabinets. After the software patch was installed; the phone system worked great.
