can't ping server

for some reason I can not ping my server from out side my network. I have ftp, pop, smtp. vpn all working with my

http://www.mydomain.com

outside my network. my I can not ping my server. it is very strange.

any ideas?

Are you behind a NAT device or Firewall?
Did you open or forward the correct TCP/IP ports to your server if you are behind a NAT/Firewall?

yes, all ports are forwarded to their right places. even if I setup the server as a dmz host through the router still no ping. and as a result my web site will not work
