I have a 1720 with a wic-1t 60pin serial. I apply an ip to my serial interface and ethernet interface and bring them both up with a no shut. I'll be able to ping the serial interface from the console but as soon as I reload the unit I can not. Help please! Ohh and I never loose the ability to ping the ethernet.

Thanks, Stephen

Hello,

Did you do a "copy running-config startup-config before you did a reload?

show me

router#sh int serial #_of_U_serial_interface

hmmm...I have had this issue before. I was configuring a 2600 router but could not ping my out going ethernet interface. But it seemed to work fine when put out to go live! I had a chat with a mate and was told that he had also had this issue some time back. He posted it to Cisco but never heard back! Some kind of bug maybe? Also, Wic cards can have evil problems with the wrong IOS. Just a thought.
