Can't Parameter a Crosstab 1

I was able to do the parameter in a Crosstab query, but the report goes nuts in design view and continuously pops up the dialog box.

The Crosstab is the recordsource for the sub_report.

This sound familiar to anyone?

It has been a while, but I recall that the easier way was to have the parameter in a separate Joined query ...

I don't have experience with this, but I imagine the problem has something to do with the fact that in a cross-tab most of the fields are not known until the cross-tab is actually evaluated.

e.g. which is why the parameter needs to be from/in a join
