Can't open MS WORKS 4.0 WKS file in Excel 97

I routinely receive documents created in MS Works 4.0 as an EMail attachment. I am unable to correctly open them using EXCEL 97. I search MS Knowledge Base and found a document saying to save in MS Works 2.0 or 3.0. However, the sender is unwilling to do so just for me. Are there any Excel addons or readers available which will allow me to successful open a WKS spreadsheet?

You need an add-in to convert them.
