I tried to open a much-used database this morning and received the following message after entering the db password:

"The database (full path) needs to be repaired or isn't a database file.

You or another user may have unexpectedly quit MS Access while a MS Access database was open. Do you want MS Access to attempt to repair the database?"

When I click 'Yes', the following MsgBox appears:
"Not a valid password"

When I click 'OK' on that MsgBox, I get another:

"Can't be repaired or isn't a MS Access database file"

Does anyone know how I can fix this situation and get into the database?

Thanks

have you tried importing all objects from the corrupted database into a new blank database ?

hope that helps

clifcamp,

this happens a lot to us when a user does not exit out of a db at night and our backup jobs run. what you need to do is find the offending person(s) get them out of access. once the lock file is gone you should be able to open up and run the repair.

regards,

longhair
