I am trying to map drives from my Windows XP desktop to my Windows 2000 Pro laptop. I am able to successfully map when I have both machines "hardwired" through the BEFW11S4. However when I go wireless with the laptop it will not map. I experience the same issue will remote desktop....able to work via "hardwired" but not wireless. Linksys says it is not there problem and quickly hangs up the phone. Any ideas? I am not using the Linksys PC card on the laptop, rather Cisco's card. Could that be the issue.

Aside from mapping a drive, when you go wireless, to other network functions behave as they should? Can you see other computers in Network Places (Network Neighborhood)? Are the IP addresses of the machines you want to connect int the same subnet?

See if this thread describes your situation: thread916-445325

Figured it out- it was ZoneAlarm. Apparently you need to "allow" the ip address on the ZA FW. Still not sure why the FW would allowed "wired" connections and not wireless, but that was the resolution.

Now having problems with Remote Desktop....with and without ZA FW.
