Hey,

I have Access2000 installed Win XP, I think I have entered into MDW group sometime in the past.
the issue now is every time I open the application and tries to open ANY database (even northwind and other smaples) I get a logon window and I can't enter the DB.

any idea how disable this logon window?

Thanks a lot
Kuz

Hey, make your did for today!
help a Newbie! (That's me :D)

Have you tried holding the Shift key down while trying to open a database. I wonder if that would work.

The only other thing that I can think of is if there is a login and password set in Administrative Tools (Control Panel). Look under Data Sources (ODBC). You should see a listing for MS Access Database. Select that and click on Configure. Click the Advanced button and see if there is a Login Name and/or Password.

Maybe there's password protection on the folder/drive where the databases are kept (assuming they're all in the same place)?

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for "Frequently Asked Questions About Microsoft Access Security for Microsoft Access Versions 2.0 through 2000" It is indispensible.

There's a copy of that FAQ on my website, if you get frustrated by the search process.

Holding the shift key down won't work--security gets implemented before that stage.

If you don't remember the password and username, you'll have to join an unsecured version of system.mdw. If you secured the default version, you'll have to rename the secured version and get a new, unsecured version either from someone else's machine or an installation disk.

Access security is very helpful, but you should really read that faq a few times before getting into it--as you have seen, it's fairly easy to cause yourself a headache.
