Firstly I have to say sorry what i am mentioning isn't a cisco router, but i can't find a proper froum to place my post.

It is a general SOHO router.
By typing internal ip of router in IE , there should show up a login page of the router

The router work properly and still operating properly
I just can't load the login page of the router

I assure the ip address i type is the router internal ip
(get from tracert and ipconfig in dhcp client)

I try 3 client of that router but none of them can load the login page

I have tick the box of automatic config in IE >Internet option> Lan setting

still no luck

anyone can tell whats probably wrong?
Thank You!

That soho router seems not support login through telnet......

Verify you are connecting to the expected router and not another device in the network.

Connect a PC directly to the router console port and check your configuration.

In theory, there is no difference between practice and theory.

In practice, there is.

it seems don't have console port
it is a cheap cheap router
I can only manage router through lan port
thanks.

does it call for a specific browser level of IE to be installed (i.e. 5.5 or better)?

does it need Java to be installed on the browser?

does you need to point your browser to a specific port to administer the router (or maybe even ssl
has your ever been able to login via web-based console?

Because I use winxp pro
i think IE is ok
i don' sure if java is need
but i think it dosen't need.
as it is a very cheap router
i think ssl is not need
i think it don't use java ?(any router need?)
it is a SOHO router.

Thanks for your suggestion.

No Definite Problem, No Definite Answer.

Sorry, Jethrowks. Your last replies do not answer the questions.

You need to answer the questions and provide more information.

According to your first post, the SOHO router is working properly.

Who configured the router the first time?
How was the router configured the first time!

Without these answers, this is just a blackhole thread. It will absorb everything without any result.

Later i will go there to check
Thanks You anyway.

When in doubt take the most obvious route. Set up a PC or a laptop so that it has an IP address in the same subnet range as the router (this may need a bit of braining to work out the subnet mask - or it may be trial and error).

For example if the router is 192.168.0.1, the set up your laptop as 192.168.0.2, the close proximity of IP addresses may negate the need for an accurate subnet mask and you might get away with 255.255.255.0 as a a mask.

Connect the PC to the router Ethernet port using a X-over cable (this is the most important part) and try to use your browser to connect to the router. If this fails try another subnet mask or at least post the IP address of the box (if you feel comfortable doing so) and someone may be able to work out the subnet mask to use.

I have nothing smart to say at this time!
