I have big problems!
I have just set up a new domain controller running Windows Server 2003.
I've tested it with workstations, and connections work fine.
Now I've taken another server (also running Server 2003) and tried to join it to my new domain.
It seemed to work, then needed a reboot.
On reboot, I can't log on to the new domain.
And for some bizarre reason, I can no longer log into it locally. We have a standard administrator password for all servers and it isn't working.
The disk I use when I need to reset a local admin password also won't work on this PC.
I can't figure out how to fix my problem, when I can't log in!

I can ping the server from my DC - but that's it...

Try unplugging the newly joined server from the network and logging on with your local admin password (the one you used to create the server). If you can get into the machine, unjoin it from the domain, delete the computer account in AD and try the process again.

just out of curiosity is the 2nd server you're trying to join to the domain an 'image' of the first? if so then you will need to change the SID

The 2nd server I'm trying to join to the domain isn't an image of the first - it's running Oracle and apps.

I tried unplugging the 2nd server, and logging into it locally. I can't log in. This isn't a newly created server, it's an existing one that is being moved to a new domain. The IT dept. here has always had standard admin passwords - but they won't work on this server. I'm not sure if something has gone wrong, or somone used a random admin password that I don't know. As I said, I have a password reset disk I use on workstations. This is the first time I've tried it on a server, and it won't work.

Please help!!

I should add that the password reset tool I use won't work with this server because it can't find the file system. This is a hot swappable raid server and I assume this is why the password reset won't work.
I haven't had any luck finding other software that will do this. I assume if I can get in as a local administrator, I will be able to solve my problems...
