Cant Load XP HELP!!!!!!!!!

I have a Compaq Armada laptop that i reformatted but cant get it to boot the CDROM. I can boot to a WIn98 startupdisk and can see the CD info but it will not install from DOS. I also tried running the I386\winnt setup and it starts but crashes when it starts to format. Not sure if its the drivers for the BAY that are not being loaded. And I forgot to mention I did change the boot order in the BIOS. If anyone has any ideas send me a line! Thanks

have a single disk that will allow you to run XP install (Microsoft have a set of disks too), you will need to load Smartdrv first.

Okay but how do I load that Smartdrive??

Add this line to your autoexec.bat

Load smartdrv.exe

Or you can load it manually from the command prompt in DOS.
