Hi Everyone,

Would someone please give me some advice on how to install a program with/on Virtual PC. Virtual PC can see the installation CD but when I look in the folders on the CD with Virtual PC the folders are empty. When I try to install the program nothing happens. However, all the files in the folders are visible when I look at the CD on the host machine Win 7. The program will also install on Win 7 but won't run, hence the reason for Virtual PC. Perhaps the CD drive is set up incorrectly.

Thanks for your help.

With the virtual machine running, on the Virtual PC menu, select: Tools, Settings..., DVD drive, Access a Physical Drive, and make sure that the drive letter selected is that of your DVD Drive.

Otherwise an .iso image of a CD/DVD on your hard disk can be mounted by Virtual PC as if it were a real CD etc. (it's a bit faster than a physical CD).

Then you access the Virtual machine DVD drive, and either autorun or explore the CD to start the program setup file.

Hi flyboytim,

Thanks for the reply. It seems I didn't have the CD/DVD drive set up correctly. Your much appreciated advice solved the problem. Thanks again.

Regards,
