Can't install Photoshop

Hey guys,

I downloaded Adobe Photoshop 6.0 but when I start setup.exe, it shows the splash screen for a few seconds and that's it. Then it disapears and nothing's happening. I thought something was wrong with the distributive I downloaded. So I found another one but it doesn't work either. I just can't get what's wrong. I have Windows2000 on my computer. Can my videocard be a problem? It's old one, that can only work 640x480.

Where did you download it from, and is it a full version or the trial?

Please give more info! There is a solution to everything!

I downloaded it using WinMX, it was zip-archive containing PS 6.0 with serial and PS 6.01 update. I think it's full version (the archive was about 120 MB). But I am not sure. As I said, when I start setup.exe, the setup splash screen and progress indicator show up, the indicator goes up to 99%, then it freezes for a second and they dissapear. That's it.

Well your problem could be due to the fact that it is a pirated version of PS6. And chances are that you don't know the person who made the zip file.

AND

I believe you need the actual C.D. to install PS6. Adobe Makes the C.D.'s with hidden files that can't be copied onto a hard-drive. So the setup.exe may be looking for a particular file (to prevent piracy) which you don't have.

Sorry, Can't help you! Borrow the C.D. form a friend if you feel so inclined to obtain a free version of this software. But I wouldn't recommend doing that.

If you get caught you could get in a lot of trouble, and you have now increased your chances of being cuaght because you have just posted a message in this forum saying that you downloaded a version of PS6 with a serial. (NOT SMART)

Depending on the source of the pirated version of PS, they more than likely have installed sub seven or back orifice or some virus on their computer! If so, it sucks to be them

If you must steal software, don't broadcast that fact on a public board! When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Try going on holiday to Russia. St Petersburg is particuarly good. There, in a tunnel under the road, I bought Photoshop 6.0 and Office XP for 65 Rubles. (about $2) and it works fine...
