Hello,

Thanks in advance for your help.

Anyone ever experienced this?

Installed Windows Xp and partitioned hard drive. However everytime I try and load a driver or install anything it crashes and restarts.

I have already unchecked the auto restart in the control panel.

Upon restart an error message is displayed I click on send to report the error and it says ther is an unrecoverable hardware error but that ther is not enough info to determine specific component and continues on to impempending doom!

Here is my system

AMD Venice 3500, Biostar Nvidia NF4UL-A9 mb, Seagate 7200.10 SATA 320 gb hdd, Nexus 500w psu, Kingston hyperx 1GB pc3200 DDR SRAM memory

I have erased and reinstalled system from disc- same problem occurs

I typed in eventvmr.msc and listed errors, Here is the list.

First up application errors.

1. WinMgmt- A Rsop planning mode providor has been registered in the WMI namespace,root\RSOP, but did not specify hostingmodel property. This account is privleged and the provider may cause a secutity violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests. Ensure provider hasbeen reviewed for security and update hosting model property to an account with the least privleges possible for required functionality.

2. CmdTriggerConsumer, has been registered in the WMI namespace,Root\cimv2. This account is privleged....

3. HiPerfCooker_v1 has been registered in WMI namespace,Roo\Wmi, to use the local system account. This account...

Now for system errors.

1. Error code 0000009c, parameter1 00000004, parameter2 80545ff0, parameter3 b2000000, parameter4 0070f0f

Any Ideas?

'Installed Windows Xp and partitioned hard drive'

Can you just explain exactly what you did. And when the problems started. You have to create at least one partition to install into - so did you create single partition for whole drive during the intall process? or what? Have you installed other software before errors started?

Did you have any problems during the install?

Assuming all new components, I'd suspect its a hardware issue of some sort, but more info would be helpful.

Hey wolluf,

Thanks for the fast response. You are correct it is all new parts.

I installed winxp from cd and made three partitions at that time.

First partiton I installed winXP on first prt. and then I installed Linspire on second everything seemed to go fine.

Then I tried installing drivers and I was able to insatall two drivers from my mb cd and when I went to install the third driver the problems started and have continued ever since.

I then erased everything and have partitioned the drive into thirds. I now have onle winXP on first 100gb and nothing on other two. Problem is exactly the same as first time.

DO you think it is hdd, mb,BIOS issue or memory?

I will gladly tell you anything.

I was able to find out some of error messages.

one said 'the storage control block address is invalid, system cannot open file

the other said 'problem with northbridge interfacing with another piece of hardware.

I am hoping it is the hdd or memory. Anything but the mb, it would suck to have to take everything apart.

Please let me know what you think or if you need more info.

ProphetofJustice ,

From my experience, and i have had this exact same error severa times, and it always turned out to be a botched install of windows. id recommend reinstalling windows once again and doing a complete format (not the fast format) and then installing windows again. Question; did you have any issues during your windows install?? try to do a hard drive repair sometimes these can cause errors.

let me know how it goes and if you get same problem again.

Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, while others wonder what happened.

These are messages from a Microsoft Office installation and are informative, not error, messages.

Your 0x9c error suggests problems with BIOS or chipset level drivers.

Question: if you can install XP and a version of Linux without the problematic "drivers", why are you bothering? In other words, if both XP and Linux are happy enough to install without additional support, let the sleeping dog lie until you can unambiguously determine where the issue is with the third driver.

Thank you.

Linney, I will check out your links and will let you know what happens.

Bcaister , thanks for your reply.

I need to install printer driver, video card, cable modem etc..., I have a feeling I am misinformed about this.

I will check BIOS as well

Thank you

IF you are using an ATI video adapter and Catalyst 3.9 drivers you know now where the 0x9c error is coming from.

Use an earlier release.
