I have installed Raptor Mobile 6.5.3 on a PC running Windows 2000 Professional. The PC is connected to the internet using an ADSL connection. The PC has no Firewall or Proxy software installed and is using an Intel 82559 Fast Ethernet LOM Network Card.

When I open the program the login box appears and I enter the relevant details. When I go to log in after a short delay of 1-2 minutes the following error message appears:

Can't Initialize EMAPI. RC = 4, Module=ISAKMPD(4). Please see log file for details. EMPAI has not been initialized.

The program will not run so I cannot view the log file. I have checked the Symantec support site and found an article of things to check which I've done but everything is okay.

Any ideas?

I have had this error on other installs. Each time I had to totally uninstall the RaptorMobile. Delete the directory that had been setup and then do a reinstall.

Another thing is that when you reinstall, make sure you have administrator rights.

Hopefully this helps.

The user I carried out the install logged in as is a machine administrator. I will completely remove all and try again but I'm not too sure if it'll work. Is there anything else to try and check for? Something like the ADSL setup?

Nothing to check that I know of. Usually after reinstalling the Raptormobile comes up as normal.

Were you able to get it to work?

I am having exactly the same problem.

I actually got the VPN to work first time. But for some reason I uninstalled it and installed it again. I got the error mentioned above. I uninstalled (delete directories) and tried this numerous times but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Looks like there is some stale configuration somewhere...

Hey vp180,

The best thing I can recommend is that you remove all of the Raptor Client and then reinstall, the link below should help in the manual uninstall.

Cleanup procedure for failed uninstall of Symantec Enterprise VPN Client

Good Luck,

tips on fixing any problem in the world
1. Check google / google-groups
2. check the vendor support page
3. get a book on the topic

I encountered this error message today on a Windows XP machine running the Symantec VPN Client v7.

It turned out that the "Symantec Enterprise VPN Client" service had an incorrect path to the "vpnservices.exe" file. Attempts to start the service resulted in a "file not found" error.

I went into the Registry Editor and changed the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Symantec Enterprise VPN Client\ImagePath value to "C:\Program Files\Symantec\VPNClient\vpnservices.exe" (without the quotes) -- the correct location on the file on that computer.

The service then started okay and the VPN client logged in and connected successfully.
