I'm hoping somebody has seen this before. I am trying to update a voice item in callpilot application builder. We had somebody record a greeting and it's saved in WAV format. CallPilot version is 5.00.41. When I open the files they sound fine. After selecting import and then choosing the WAV file, I get a popup message that says:

The system could not import the voice item onto the server.
Please check the connection to the server and try again.

I've never uploaded before so am at a loss. Normally, I record through my phone but
we had somebody in a different department do the recording this time. Does anyone
know how to overcome this error?

Something tickles my memory about the actual format of the .wav file. There are many bit rates, and I think some are incompatible with callpilot.
.Wav compression formats range from 8000 hz to 11 or 12000 hz, I wish I could tell you exactly what you need, but it's been too long.

Thanks for giving me something to consider. I was thinking it was more related to permissions. I didn't think CP would be able to recognize the file properties. I figured maybe it could upload but not be able to use it when it tried. I will just have to find out how to see the wav file properties.

I remember this too. It's something like it must be a wav 2 file and it can only be mono. I'll check through my past notes but it's something along those lines. There might be something in CP to specify it somewhere.

So a quick test of Callpilot audio player - recorded a few seconds of voice and save-as'd on my desktop as a .wav - I get a sampling rate of 13kbps, do depending on how you recorded it, it might be much higher than Callpilot can interpret. There is a piece of software I use in my own voicemail-to-email app called switchsound which can convert between many formats and bit rates.

On Monday, I'll play around with the file formatting, can't hurt. : ) Thanks

For Call Pilot you need

Sample Rate: 44K (I think will work), 22K and 8K

8 Bit

MONO

Standard wav should do it. No mp3 etc

(Miran is 8K only)

Great, thanks. I'll let you know how things go.

Found a way to convert to specs and upload went fine. Thanks for the assist.
