Does anyone know why this message comes up when we try to import pdf's in Quark 6.5:

"The PDF file "xzy"
cannot be imported because security
permissions are set, or it is password
protected."

It doesn't matter whether we created the pdf's (and we never set any password) or if they come from other sources. I heard Quark 6.5 can't read pdf's that were done in the new Distiller, but how about the other ones???
We can open them in OS 9 and Quark 4.0 fine, so is]it just a big 6.5 error?? Please help, we need to get a paper out!!!!

We see this from time to time in Quark 6.1 and 5. We have found that it usually means what it says. That the pdf has been password or security protected. I would open the document in acrobat first and look under File/Document Info/security and see if there really are some sort of restrictions. If not, I'm not going to be much help on this one.... Dont have 6.5 yet.

I have had trouble recently with importing PDF's into Quark. When I have outputted a PDF document that was imported into quark to our workflow system the pdf document totally changed colour. When I output the same pdf document from Acrobat to the workflow system the document separated ok. So maybe this security message you are getting has something to do with the Pdf document being locked at source so as it would not be output through Quark for fear of it changing colour.
