Line 3 on my system is in use and I can't figure out where. Is there a way to force the unknown extension to release the line? Also, is there some way to see which extension is using the line? I tried unplugging the extensions from the modules one at a time, then I tried unplugging all the incoming lines at once. Still nothing worked. I am stuck and don't know what else to do. I tried searching these forums but nothing useful came up. I was considering unplugging the whole system, but I wasn't sure if it reset everything back to square one. If that happened, I would have far more questions. Any help you guys can give would be great.

Try cycling the power off and on to see if that clears the problem. If the line goes back to in-use, use the programmable buttons as auto-intercom buttons. The LED next to the button will indicate an extension in use. You can't see ALL of the extensions on a single telephone, so program them to see something like the first 8 stations, and after you confirm that they are not in use, reprogram them for the next 8 stations, and so on. Don't forget virtual extensions like 78 and 79, and the modem which is 76.

Hi lcfnsjr,
Since you unplugged all your ext. cables and the line was still in use, you either have a defective card or, as TouchToneTommy indicated, ext 76 (RPD modem) 78 or 79 (PVM, voicemail card) are locking up the line. It would seem that the system was locked up and cycling the power will reset it.
This is not that common. TouchToneTommy has the correct procedure. I guess you will have to wait for a repeat to troubleshoot further.

Thanks guys. The reset worked. I wasn't sure if cycling the power would reset all of the programming. The amount of knowledge on this forum never ceases to amaze me.
