System: Merlin Legend with Merlin Mail

At one particular extension, the user can NOT simply dial 770 (like all the other extensions) to get to the voicemail. Also, the user has to dial the complete number to call another extension (with other extensions, the user only has to dial the 4 digit extension number). This particular extension does have a direct PRI number that can be dialed outside the system to get directly to them.

I'm an IT person, so if you can help, please give me step by step.

Can the other users dial this persons 4 digit extension and get him/her? It sounds to me that this particular phone is not an extension on the system, rather it is just a POTS line.

yes...the other users can dial simply the 4 last digits to get to the extension in question.

Hmmm, is this phone on another Legend? Is there two Legends tied together with a T1? If that is the case, it sounds like you need to set up the UDP.

If you have WinSPM - connect to the system and print-out an extention report - for the extention in question - and post it here.

I agree with jinxs that this particular phone is NOT connected to your system - but rather a standalone phone connected to a POTs line. My guess is - you will not find that extention number on your system.

This is pretty weird. The extension in question is 1179.

I meant the extension in question is 1176 (not 1179). Everything is connected to one legend. I even plugged the phone directly into the port (bypassing the in wall wiring to see if that was the problem). The site is a medium sized doctor's office.

Print an Extention Information Report for the extention - and post it here. You printed the Extention Directory instead. It looks to be a single-line phone on a Basic Telephone Module.

Ok, thanks. Is there a straightforward step by step way to do that or can you suggest a manual that will tell me (I've been logging into the system via winSPM)? I manage their computers and the telephone people have been giving them the runaround on a few minor phone issues for months w/ no resolution. I'm just trying to help them out. I'll be back on site later this evening to see if I can figure this out.

I'm curious and I know this is probably a dumb question for you guys, but how did you know it was a single line phone on a basic telephone module from that printout (is that a good or bad thing)?

Thanks.

I see that slot 3 is a 16 port card. It could be an analog, MLX, or ETR card. If it is an analog, check the print, check to see if there are any lines or pools assigned to X1176. Your ALS might point to the pool or line first. Such as, you don't have to dial 9 to dial out. On the printout you would see this on a button on the bottom of the printout. If that is the case, all you would need to do is go to centralized programming. It is sys program-->start or exit-->more->cntr prog-->program extension-->dial 1176-->enter-->Touch the bottom left hand button (the display should read sa ring or something along those lines)-->dial *14-->select the outgoing sequence(I would press the bottom left hand button first, then the one above it, then the one above that)-->dial **14 to end ALS programming. If this is an MLX or ETR port, then we really need to see the printout. By default you can ALWAYS dial the local extension numbers on a Legend.

To print the report. Get into WinSPM, click on Standard SPM - at the main screen - press system program, start/exit, more, print, use the "More" key to scroll to Extention Info, choose that, keyin 1176 and press enter - give the report a name like Ext1176 and click OK - then post it here so we can see how it is setup.

Sounds like the phone is coming off hook on a line instead of a System Access button. Try going off hook, pushing an SA button and trying the call...

Those directions didn't work for me...don't know if I did something wrong or if that's referencing another system. This system is a Legend Release 6.1 v11.1 Mode:Hybrid using WinSPM to connect. Is this what you're looking for (printed everything I could and I think this is it)

Your extension is programmed to select the outgoing pool first.

Go to Centralized Telephone Programming, Program Extension, 1176, Enter, Press the lower left hand SA button, dial *14, press the same lower left SA button, the button above that, the button above that, then dial **15, and Sys Program.

Thanks a lot....That did it. The extension is now able to access voice mail, dial extensions with 4 numbers, dial 9 for outside line and still has the direct PRI number. Thanks for all your help and guidance!

Yes - this extention was previously setup for a FAX machine - which is why it was set to go to Pool 70 - as soon as it was taken "off-hook" - so it could get immediate dialtone on an outside line without needing to dial "9". When "autoline select" is setup that way - there is no way for that extention to make internal intercom calls. Resetting "autoline select" as per TouchToneTommy's instructions - returned the extention to "normal" single-line phone operation. You can also remove the Pool 70-I button - as it is not necessary anymore.

Thanks MerlinMan. My service provider (AT&T) sends 7 digits

xxx-872-1396

For some reason, this is the only one of your Threads that I can post to now.

In regards to the issue with 1396, you need to make a table that looks like this:

Entry Number: 0 1 2 3
NtwkServ: Any SVC Any Any
Expected Digits: 4 4 7 0 0
Pattern to Match: 0436 872
Digits to Delete: 0 4 3 0 0
Digits to Add: 5489

What I am saying is create table 2 to drop the 872 part of the 7 Digits they are sending.

I really think you need to start a new post on that subject 'cause for some reason the original is hosed.
