I'm building a navigation bar for my web pages. I've created buttons (images) in photoshop and the background color I've used on the buttons is EXACTLY the same as the page background color in Dreamweaver. After I save the buttons as GIFS in photoshop and insert the image/buttons in Dreamweaver, the background colors look distinctly different (especially in Internet Explorer). But they have the same hex #. When I use the dropper the same hex # comes up in the image background and the page background...but they look different!! Can anyone tell me why this is happening.

Try using jpeg instead of gif hopefully that should work.

Also make sure photoshop is in rgb mode and not the others.

I've tried using JPEG as well and photoshop is is RGB mode.

ure not using web safe colors in photoshop are you?? try using the actual color...web safe doesn't necessarily come up with the exact color...

I've had this problem.

Dreamweaver is the one that's picking up the websafe colours.

You need to go into photoshop, and get the HEX code for the background colour, then, paste it into the properties pallet for the background colour of your navbar in dreamweaver.

It's better to always do it this way, or, if your using dreamweaver 4, you can turn off the 'Web Safe Colour Picker'. There is a little button on the colour pallet. Click it, and it turns off websafe. Also, I think in DW3 there is a button as well, but you have to press it each time you use the picker. ----------------------------------------

Kingmarl,
I am using dreamweaver 4. I went to the the pallet and there's a pop up menu from the top right of the paller and I deselected 'Snap to Web Safe.' Is this what you're talking about?
Also the HEX code for the image and the background are the same. Here'e the example I'm talking about (link below), check the arc on the left and compare to the page background...

Don't forget to calibrate your monitor in photoshop. Also, check which color space you are using: Adobe 1968 is the most forgiving.
