Can't get rid of virus's/adware

I have a Dell Desktop running XP Pro... My wife and kids use this machine.. My wife's account recently started running slow, not being able to run certain apps (AOL) or getting BSOD. I run Mcafee AV, Spybot and Ad-Aware all with the latest updates. If I run McAfee, I get no virus's found, but every time I run Ad-Aware, I get a McAfee popup where it has located 4 virus's and it cleans them automatically (beyond.class, blackbox.class, dummy.class and verifierbug.class). What can I do to get rid of these things and to get this system healthly again?

My advice go here and run a scan. Its an online virus scanner and its free. If this doesnt get rid of the stuff there are other things that can be used to help remove it such as hijack this. But first try this if it doesnt then download hijackthis from the second link and open it and extract it to either desktop or prefered folder. Then open the program and choose do a system scan and save a logfile and post the information on here.

did you run ewido in safe mode?


IMPORTANT! Move Hijack this from the Temp, or from the zip folder to it's own folder!


Make a new folder in C:\ and call it Hijack this, and Save hijack this to
this folder so that it runs properly and can make back ups. Click scan,
then save the log and post it here so we can take a look at it for you.

* On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
* Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
* Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
* A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
* Click OK
Now run clean up.

go to this site and download these tools and once you get both
adaware Se 1.6 and spybot, update both of them.

Set adaware to do a full system scan and deselect, "search for neglible risk
entries". Click next to start the scan. Delete everything adaware finds.

reboot and now run spybot

Spybot: Search and destroy.

Delete what spybot finds marked in red. After updating spybot hit the
immunize button.

reboot again


With CWshredder close all browsers and programmes and select the FIX button.



Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware Beta. First in the top menu click
File then Check for updates to download the definitons updates.

After updating look in the right side of the main window under "Run Quick
Scan Now" and click Spyware scan options. In that window put a tick by Run a
full system scan and then put a check by all three options below that then
click Run Scan now.

When the scan is finished, let it fix anything that it finds (have it
quarantine the items that have that option rather than delete just in case.
It is a beta program and there may be false positives)

Restart your computer.

I am still seeing a TCP connection on port 80 from 64.236.41.x even though I don't have any apps loaded.. It looks like there still may be something there that is automatically establishing this connection... any ideas?

Delete these 2 and see if that stops any traffic that your getting when ie's not being used.

well port 80 is the web and you are connection out to the web?

go to start/run typr cmd/ then type ipconfig /all

To answer the last post, the IP address that is connecting is not on my network, neither workstation or router IP... It's somewhere on the Inet..

I actually found out what that host is that is conneting via port 80.. DUH!! It is the AOLHostService.exe.. I think it's used for AIM... Anyway, my sense of alarm is reduced now, but is there anything else I might be able to do to clean this machine up a little more? Thanks for all your help

Well if you havent already go through msconfig and check it out for keeping faster starting up. Also be sure both temp folders are emptied. The second temp folder required hidden files and folders to be showed.
The one in windows and also the one located in c:, documents and settings, account name your on(example sally, administrator, etc.), local settings, temp.
